Meets the Last Wednesday of the Month
7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
My book club started meeting in January of 2013. We’re an informal group who meet once a month to discuss a book about self-development, productivity, well-being and other inspirational themes. We have delved into vulnerability, presence, the body-mind connection, the Alexander Technique, and how to create and change a habit.
We have enjoyed reading books such as Presence by Amy Cuddy, Thrive by Arianna Huffington, Quiet by Susan Cain, Rising Strong by Brené Brown, and Better Than Before by Gretchen Rubin.
Our next book is Positivity by Barbara Fredrickson.
From the description on Amazon:
World renowned researcher Dr. Barbara Fredrickson gives you the lab-tested tools necessary to create a healthier, more vibrant, and flourishing life through a process she calls “the upward spiral.”
• What positivity is, and why it needs to be heartfelt to be effective
• The ten sometimes surprising forms of positivity
• Why positivity is more important than happiness
• How positivity can enhance relationships, work, and health, and how it relieves depression, broadens minds, and builds lives
• The top-notch research that backs the 3-to-1 “positivity ratio” as a key tipping point
• That your own sources of positivity are unique and how to tap into them
• How to calculate your current positivity ratio, track it, and improve it
With Positivity, you’ll learn to see new possibilities, bounce back from setbacks, connect with others, and become the best version of yourself.
Positivity is available from Amazon and most other book stores.
The BodyIntelligence Book Club is free to join, and I host it in my home. The only cost involved is the price of the book/s. We’d love to have you join us! If you’re interested in joining, or simply want to find out more, please get in touch. Guests are always welcome.
Not in Wilmington?
We also have a virtual home within my Facebook group, the BodyIntelligence Community, which allows for discussion between meetings, and also allows people anywhere in the world to join in. The group’s main focus is self-care and personal development, which ties right in with the subject matter of the books we read.
