I specialize in working with women like me – women balancing the pressures of work and home, business and family.

My mission is to empower you with strategies to put you in control of your own body and mind, so you have a constructive way to deal with negative self-talk, can release the postural habits that lead you into overwhelm, and let go of stress. You’ll discover you have a body that is not only more comfortable and free of excess tension, but also exudes confidence and authenticity―to help you be calm, confident and in control, in mind, body and spirit.

My work is primarily based on the Alexander Technique (of which I am a nationally certified teacher) – an evidence-based method for learning to identify and change harmful habits of movement, tension and reaction – and my own experience as a solo entrepreneur for the past eleven years. I also incorporate my training as a Laughter Yoga leader, and the work of Brené Brown, Amy Cuddy, Kristin Neff, and Susan Cain into my teaching.

What Will I Learn in this Course?

This course covers seven key BodyIntelligence strategies to manage overwhelm and reduce stress.

You’ll learn:

  1. How to use Mindful Awareness to shift your attention in the moment to immediately relieve stress and tension.
  2. About the Posture of Overwhelm – what it is, why it matters, and how to avoid it.
  3. To Feel Your Power, so you project confidence and passion to communicate authentically with clients, prospects, and, most importantly, yourself.
  4. To Pause for Thought to make conscious choices about how and what you think, so you can prevent your habitual stress responses that lead to overwhelm.
  5. Ways to work with your Natural Breathing to calm stress.
  6. Practices to cultivate your Emotional Resilience based on the power of laughter, self-compassion, and gratitude.
  7. The importance of Self-Care as the underlying key strategy in the prevention and management of stress and overwhelm. You will explore a variety of self-care practices and find those that work best for you.

At the end of the course you’ll have personal experience and practice using all the strategies, and will be empowered with simple yet powerful ways to prevent and reduce stress and to help you next time overwhelm threatens.

Who is this Course for?

This workshop is designed especially for women in business – professional women, executives, entrepreneurs, business owners, solo-entrepreneurs and self-employed women.

If you find yourself easily getting stressed and overwhelmed – at home or at work – this course is perfect for you! An interest in mindfulness, the mind-body connection, and in personal development in general, is a bonus.

To truly benefit, you must be committed to making deep personal changes to transform the way you interact with yourself and the world around you.

What is the Course Format?

For these intimate group classes you are invited to my home studio in north Wilmington. Together we’ll explore the seven key strategies to mindfully deal with overwhelm and stress in a safe and supportive setting.

There will be handouts, slides and demonstrations. The classes will be interactive, personal and experiential, and will include individual, partner and group activities, and a little hands-on (literally) help from me.

Each week we will focus on one of the first six key strategies. Self-care, the 7th key strategy, will be infused into all the classes as an important, underlying component of everything we learn.

Each week you will receive simple assignments to help you practice and integrate what you are learning into your life.

You will also have the opportunity to network and get to know each other more informally.

Tea, coffee and water will be provided.

At the end of the course participants will receive a BodyIntelligence Self-Mastery Course Certificate of Completion.*

* You must attend at least 5 of the 6 classes and have completed specific basic assignments to receive your certificate.

What are your Credentials?

Imogen RagoneI am a teacher of the Alexander Technique, nationally certified by the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT). The Alexander Technique is an evidence-based mind-body approach to using our whole selves consciously, efficiently, with freedom, grace and poise. I have been in business teaching the Alexander Technique since 2006, and also have a second business designing simple websites for other Alexander Technique teachers. While I initially discovered Alexander Technique as a solution to my own debilitating neck pain and tension, I soon discovered it to be invaluable to me in the running of my two businesses, from being able to successfully manage a lot of time at the computer without undue fatigue, tension or pain, to helping me overcome nerves and present myself and my work with confidence, and, of course, in the management of stress and overwhelm. This has recently been a matter of immediate concern as I deal with the ongoing care of my ailing and aging parents from over 4,000 miles away. I am also a certified Laughter Yoga Leader.

When and Where do the Classes Take Place?

Classes take place Wednesday mornings at my home studio in the Chalfonte neighborhood of north Wilmington from 10 AM – 12 Noon starting October 18, 2017.
