21 Life Lessons from My Cats
I’ve just returned from a fun trip to Chicago and am late posting my blog this week. In a spirit of fun and keeping things simple, here’s a lighted-hearted look at things we can learn from the way cats approach life. Actually there’s quite a lot of body intelligence wisdom to be found here!
I was inspired by my friend, Alexander Technique teacher and artist, Kirsten Harris’ blog post, 65 Life Lessons from My Dog, and of course, it’s a great excuse to post pictures of my two cats, Tiger and Puffkin. Enjoy!
#1 Rest whenever you get the opportunity – which is often!
#2 Don’t expend energy unnecessarily. Find ease in what you do. Cats are great at working smarter not harder.
#3 It’s perfectly fine to spend time alone. Find yourself a cozy nook where you won’t be disturbed.
#4 Take your time getting to know and trust a new person.
#5 Persistence pays off! Keep asking until you get what you want.
#6 It’s always fine to change your mind – as many times as you like!
#7 Do things in your own time – even when others want you to hurry.
#8 Reuse and recycle – especially when it comes to boxes. They always come in useful.
#9 Breathing just happens. You don’t have to work hard to “do it right!”
#10 Make time to play – but only when you feel like it.
#11 Never be pressured by others to do what they want. Be yourself and do your own thing.
#12 Snuggling up is good – occasionally.
#13 Lie down often. Always conserve energy when you can.
#14 Get up early and never skip breakfast!
#15 Be curious and cautious.
#16 Cleanliness is important – keep yourself fastidiously clean at all times.
#17 Move with flow and intention. Eyes lead, body follows.
#18 Pause and ready yourself before springing into action.
#19 Watch and listen. You’ll learn a lot.
#20 Life is easy – don’t make it difficult.
#21 Get outside in the fresh air whenever you have the opportunity!
Are you a cat lover too? If so, can you think any more lessons your cats teach you?
As always, I’d love to hear from you. Please leave your comment in the space below.
